About Department

Since its inception in 2004, the Department of Mathematics and Statistics has been committed to establishing itself as a Centre of excellence in Mathematics and Statistics through high-quality teaching, research, and academic activities. The Department strives to nurture competent, motivated, and intellectually engaged professionals while contributing to the advancement of society and the nation through scholarly excellence, innovation, research, and the effective application of knowledge and expertise.

The Department comprises 25 dedicated and accomplished faculty members who, alongside their teaching responsibilities, are actively engaged in research across a broad spectrum of areas, including Differential Geometry, Numerical Analysis, Algebra, Special Functions, Hydrodynamics, Functional Analysis, Statistics, and Operations Research. The Department has published more than 500 research papers in reputed national and international journals and has successfully supervised over 60 Ph.D. theses, reflecting its strong commitment to research excellence and academic advancement. The Department offers a diverse range of undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral program programs, including B.Sc. (Hons.) Mathematics; B.Sc. (Hons.) Statistics; B.Sc. (Hons.) Mathematics with Computer Science/Physics/Chemistry; B.Sc. (Hons.) Statistics with Mathematics/Computer Science; M.Sc. Mathematics; M.Sc. Statistics; M.Sc. Data Science; Ph.D. in Mathematics; and Ph.D. in Statistics.
